500

In the United States today we tend to forget there is still a war going on in Afghanistan. That military action continues to be deadly for American troops. We have reached a milestone with 500 US soldiers killed.

How many more must die before the nation recognizes the mistake? We are fighting a local insurgency that is becoming more and more entrenched. We should be fighting the causes of terrorism by reducing economic woes around the world. We as a nation need to lead the world in peaceful and humanitarian moves. We cannot continue to be the world's largest bully if we hope to lead in any measure into the future.

In memoriam for the fallen,

Peace.

500 lives spent. Many wounded. Why did we not take out Bin Laden when we had the chance. And why did we not then rebuild Afganistan as promised.

I think we all know the answer. Our 'leaders' wanted control over oil in Iraq.

workshop,

The invasion and subsequent occupation of Iraq is, was, and always will be about oil. The Bu$h administration and their oil company cronies led us into this mess on false pretenses for the sake of profit.

We, the American people, deserve not only a full explanation but full restitution for the wasted billions. Much of today's oil costs are linked to unrest in the Middle East and the Iraq occupation. How much more can America afford?

And yet the US continues to foment war. Right now our Israeli and Georgian proxies have actually engaged Russia in open warfare, and there are plans afoot to invade Pakistan, and an armada is reportedly steaming towards Iran.

I fear that this administration, far from having learned its lesson, is preparing to double down on its debt.

workshop,

One more terrible facet of our society today is that cowboy mentality. Military force is somehow seen as strong and good. Why cannot humans begin to see we are destroying our chance for a future on this planet if we continue this course?

I just read that there may be 1000 marines in Georgia. Why are we training the Georgia military? That's an obvious provocation to Russia. And now those marines, if they are still there, could concievably get caught in a shooting war with Russia.

And why is it so important that we have a gas pipeline in central asia, when we could be building alternative energy right here?

Jerry W. Northington, DVM said...

workshop,

The administration is so tied to oil and gas industrial giants these days alternative energy takes a back seat. The public needs to take note and take to the streets to stop this. Every action taken by the Bu$h administration these days is aimed at worldwide control of oil and gas. We cannot afford to let this go on.

Renewable energy is the path to the future. We must stop fighting over oil an begin to exploit wind and solar along with geothermal and wave energy sources.

Peace, Jerry.

All the tension, armed to the teeth, over oil and gas is becoming very frightening to me.

Jerry W. Northington, DVM said...

workshop,

The continued tension over oil and gas is one reason to end our dependency on carbon based fuels.

What about water? Is that the next issue to become critical? How do we face that one?

We can reuse and recycle water too!!!!

Jerry W. Northington, DVM said...

workshop,

We must not only reuse and recycle water but we must begin conservation measures to insure a supply into the future. And we must begin to put in place better safeguards against contamination of our water supply or one day we may no longer be able to drink what water is available.
