DailyKos Fundraiser

Friends of mine in the blogging community are hosting a fundraising fest at DailyKos. Please feel free to visit and join the conversation or follow along to see how we fare.

For 4 evenings, we're raising money on DailyKos for Jerry Northington, or Possum, who is running in Delaware. Possum's primary is this September. Possum is a Vietnam Vet and veterinarian who will provide our caucus with a much better Democrat!

Daily Kos at its best.

workshop,

The community gathering at DKos is a miracle. I cannot believe all that is happening in my absence. I am on the road every night this week garnering votes to make all our dreams come true. One day...

Peace, my friend. Be well.

Miracles do happen. I had an unexpected one just when I needed it, too.

And now it's on to another day.

Gathering votes, spreading ideas, receiving ideas...
a heart full of peace and two good shoes!

LOL. More than two good shoes. I already replaced my sneakers and am about to replace my every day shoes, too. The best shoes are in two pairs so I can rotate them day by day. Shoe leather is a campaign expense these days.

I am happy you found a miracle in your life. I find those sometimes when I am not really looking. They seem to fall in place once in a while.

Yup, a friend came through at a needed moment. I DO believe in angels! ;)

Have you ever noticed that shoes do that sometimes too? One time, my best pair was about to give out, and I happened to be dropping off an old computer at the hazardous waste site the day they bit the dust, when lo and behold on a 'free bench' outside the site, there was a pair of shoes calling out to me - a bit used but just right. Kept me in shoes another year!

Recycle, reuse, etc!

workshop,

Recycle, reuse is right. We sometimes cruise the Salvation Army or other centers. I owned ties and shirts from there not so long ago. Fine clothes needing a second life. I am not above reusing at all. That keeps life moving in the right directions.

Something well made lasts - a lesson worth learning and relearning!

Jerry W. Northington, DVM said...

workshop,

Investing in items well made is like investing in any part of our future. One must always balance the cost against the benefit, but well made always beats cheap and easy.

That segways nicely to politics! I'll take a well-made candidate over a flashy one any day!

Jerry W. Northington, DVM said...

workshop,

The trouble is most people cannot distinguish flashy from well made. Too many take the superficial appearance as substance. Breaking that barrier is tough sometimes.

There's no foolproof litmus test, is there?

Jerry W. Northington, DVM said...

workshop,

Some single issue voters have their personal litmus test. Others are more open to real substance. Even I find difficulty sometimes picking a candidate in my own mind. This people and politics thing is not simple.

I take a look at their shoes - if they are worn down a little, that's a good sign! ;)

Seriously, I listen to what people say. I pay close attention. I try not to hear what I want to hear, but the real implications.

It's not often a happy experience, once you sort through the happy talk to get at what a politician is really saying. And why should we have to do this? Say what you mean and mean what you say. This is what I demand. If we all demand it, we'll get it.

Jerry W. Northington, DVM said...

workshop,

Most people today are trained from birth to hear only good news and to ignore the bad. We as a society expect our leaders to make our lives safe, secure, and happy in the Hollywood mold. We are a media driven group who hear the propaganda and fall for the tricks.

Politicians who tell the whole truth are soon ridiculed by the right wing for their positions. And people continue to fall into that trap.

I believe the truth and only the truth will set us free.

And, yes, worn shoes are a fine thing in any politician.

Peace, Jerry.
