"Inadvertent" Deaths

According to the dictionary inadvertent means
unintentional
Today we get news of the "inadvertent" killing of 4 women and a child in Afghanistan. The deaths are the result of actions taken by US led troops against militants in the area.

How can we forget those who suffer most in war are often the women and children? We should keep in mind there are always innocents in war zones. War is not a game played on a board in the comfort of a living room. As Sherman said
War is hell.
We need to remember that fact on a daily basis as our nation continues to consider increasing our military presence around the world.

Humankind is in real danger if we fail to change our course and take a more peaceful way into the future. We humans possess far more than enough weapons to destroy the entire globe. We had best be careful or we will leave nothing but a burned cinder behind one day.

Peace.

Why can humans not learn to solve their problems by peaceful means? Is our nature so violent we cannot seek peace among ourselves?

I am distraught these days at the ongoing saber rattling of the administration and our Presidential candidates. I fear for the future of our world.

Jerry,

"Inadvertent" death has become routine.

Recently, John Pilger wrote,

"Wedding parties are a coalition specialty.

The dishonesty with which such atrocities are excused and explained away is sickening.

workshop,

For far too long our elected officials across the nation have been allowed to function without accountability. Today we suffer the effects of that lack. You are right we must act and act today if we are to stop even more trouble in the near future. I fear for the future of the world if we fail this time.

chris,

The administration is all about framing the issues of all kinds with words that obscure the terrible tragedy. "Inadvertent" deaths and "collateral damage" are two of the worst of the frames. We must continue to hammer at the truth to uncover these lies and obfuscations.

Peace, Jerry.

I really appreciate the fact that you are standing out for the rights of the innocent women and children who are getting killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. I wonder if anyone in the American administration has the conscience to speak for them?
Moreover, the recent case of Pakistani citizen Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is another story of horrible atrocities committed by American intelligence agencies on a MIT educated Pakistani women whose only blamed for some crimes which were not proved in the past five years of her illegal detention and rape in Balgram Prison in Afghanistan. Her case recently emerged after Ms. Ridley persued her case and thereafter was labeled as Prisoner 650 - The Ghost Lady of Bagram Jail.
Keep up the good work Jerry as it is people like you who will stand out and make the difference in the lives of both Americans and the rest of the world.
We the team of Pro Pakistan fully support you in your race for Congress Seat.

m junaid khan,

It is always the innocent who suffer most in war. Soldiers have armor or fine medical facilities. Most women and children have no protection at all. We must continue to stand together against war on all fronts if for no other reason than the deaths of so many innocent people.

Thanks for visiting. May you find peace in your life all your days.

Workshop,

Like you say, many deaths are not unintentional in spite of claims to the contrary. Military forces know the value of fear among a civilian population. And what better way to instill fear than by killing people who have no part in the battle?

On the other hand what instills resistance in fighters more than the deaths of family members? We must stop killing one another if we as a species are to survive for long into the future.

workshop,

Good luck on Wednesday. Keep me in your heart as my spirit goes along with you. Maybe that will be some solace for you. I will keep you in mind all day in support of your effort.

Peace is important. If all of us were to stand for peace we'd see changes in this nation. Too few these days find time to protest. We need to get more out on those streets.

Georgia is dark indeed. The US media is not going to tell the truth. There is little way to get the real state of the situation out of the nation. We better hope this is not nearly as bad as things look from outside.

workshop,

The Bu$h administration has always been about empty words and unfulfilled promises. They have no more sense of what true support for veterans means than the man in the moon.

I suspect without knowing for certain this move to block veterans from registering to vote is a pure political move. Those troops are more likely to support candidates who oppose the administration. Insiders recognize the care they are given and are happy to try to change the situation. Bu$hco cannot allow that.

This is more shameful episode in the life of our nation today. I am sad beyond belief. The day this administration becomes past history cannot come too soon.

If we, the people, take charge and demand an end to war it is over as you say. Fine thinking, my friend.

More relevant than ever. Why is it our politicians fail to learn from history? Can't they see the fallacy of their ways? Or are they ignorant of history at all?
